was a pleasure to have with us, Migell Acosta, Director of the San Diego County Library. Migell spoke about
the different ways that libraries provide resources to residents so that they
read better, write better, do math better, function better, and live a better
quality of life. He shared information about e-books, library-literacy services, and Library High School.

the Host:
Jose
L Cruz began his work in literacy in 1985. The San Diego Council on Literacy was
formed one year later. Since then, both have worked to unite the San Diego
community to support literacy. Jose has worked in collaborations for literacy
at all levels. He has a 26 year history with the SDCOL, the last 12 years as
CEO.
The pride of the SDCOL is its network of 27+ affiliated literacy program
partners that annually serve over 179,000 San Diego residents of all ages at no
cost. Everyday, these partnerships help emerging readers, students, parents,
heads of households, and workers function and thrive through the power of
